Actress Danica McKellar — who famously starred on “The Wonder Years” as a child actress — has joined the growing list of celebrities who’ve put Los Angeles in the rearview mirror in favor of simpler, slowed-down, less glittery lifestyles.
What are the details?
McKellar had lived in the LA area since age 7, but she and her husband and son recently pulled up stakes and moved to a rural homestead in Tennessee, People reported.
A veteran of holiday-themed projects, McKellar next stars in “Christmas at the Drive-In” (releasing Nov. 25) — and that fits right in with her current situation, the magazine said.
“I am just loving the fact that my Christmas movie characters have rubbed off on me,” McKellar, 46, told People in an exclusive interview about her family’s move. “I think it’s just a wonderful example of life imitating art.”
McKellar, her attorney husband Scott Sveslosky, her son Draco (whom McKellar shares with ex Mike Verta), and her mother Mahalia departed the LA area over the summer and landed in a spot nearly an hour outside of Nashville, the magazine said.
“My husband and I have been wanting more nature for a long time,” McKellar told People. “We were kind of ready to not be in a city anymore.”
Turns out McKellar and Sveslosky — who’ve been married since 2014 — have a kind of history in the region from the early days of their relationship, the magazine said. After only a month or two of dating, McKellar told People she was filming on location in nearby Kentucky, and the pair “couldn’t stand to be apart.”
“He flew to Nashville, and I drove like an hour and a half from Kentucky to Nashville,” she told the magazine. “We had this great weekend together.”
Then there are always the famous sounds coming out of the Volunteer State.
“Memphis and Nashville are both entertainment cities. They’re known for music,” McKellar added to People. “Being from L.A. and being an entertainer, it’s nice to have creative people around.”
Plus, she and her family now have a lot more room.
“For me, honestly, it’s mostly about the backyard,” McKellar told the magazine, noting she went from a small yard in LA to living on multiple acres.
