Twitter says ads that ‘contradict the scientific consensus on climate change are prohibited’ on the platform

Twitter said that advertisements that run afoul of the “scientific consensus” regarding climate change are not welcome on the social media platform.

The big tech company declared that “misleading advertisements on Twitter that contradict the scientific consensus on climate change are prohibited, in line with our inappropriate content policy. We believe that climate denialism shouldn’t be monetized on Twitter, and that misrepresentative ads shouldn’t detract from important conversations about the climate crisis. This approach is informed by authoritative sources, like the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Assessment Reports.”

Individuals and institutions around the globe continue to beat the climate alarmism drum, warning that action must be taken to avert a climate crisis.

“We recognize that misleading information about climate change can undermine efforts to protect the planet. In the coming months, we’ll have more to share on our work to add reliable, authoritative context to the climate conversations happening on Twitter,” the company noted.

“We all have a part we can play in tackling this urgent, global crisis. From volunteering with an environmental organization in your community, to joining a Twitter Space with environmental experts, to learning more about protecting our planet, there are lots of ways to get involved,” Twitter stated.

The company has faced criticism for engaging in censorship and failing to provide a platform where people can engage in free speech. The social media giant has penalized accounts that dare to deviate from the dogmas of radical leftist gender ideology. Last year, the company permanently booted then-President Donald Trump off of its platform in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

After billionaire business tycoon Elon Musk offered to buy the platform, the company’s board of directors adopted a limited duration shareholder rights plan.

“The Rights Plan will reduce the likelihood that any entity, person or group gains control of Twitter through open market accumulation without paying all shareholders an appropriate control premium or without providing the Board sufficient time to make informed judgments and take actions that are in the best interests of shareholders,” Twitter noted.

Musk has indicated that he wants Twitter to serve as a forum for free speech.
