Joy Reid says ‘Christian nationalists’ waging a pro-life ‘jihad’ will impose national forced birth law in the name of God

MSNBC host Joy Reid promulgated a narrative that pro-life “Christian nationalists” are waging a jihad against abortion and are actively bidding to enact a national forced birth law.

On Thursday night, Reid retweeted a Washington Post article with the headline: “This Florida teacher married a woman. Now she’s not a teacher anymore.”

The article was centered around teacher Nicolette Solomon, who was enraged by Florida’s Parental Rights in Education legislation – which prohibits classroom instruction about sexual orientation or gender identity for students in kindergarten through third grade.

Near the end of the article, the reader finds out “Solomon handed in her letter of resignation” on Feb. 2. However, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis did not sign the Parental Rights in Education bill into law until March 28.

The 44th paragraph of the article revealed, “The final straw was when her supervisor implied she would face consequences for taking a week’s leave so she could get fertility treatments; she and Hayley were trying to have a baby. But the bigger problem was it no longer felt possible to be lesbian and a teacher in Florida.”

An NBC News article published on April 1 did not mention the fertility treatment issue and stated, “Nicolette Solomon, 28, taught fourth grade in Miami-Dade County for more than four years. As HB 1557 passed through the Legislature, she quit. Solomon, a lesbian, said that after months of having taught virtually through the coronavirus pandemic, the law was ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back.'”

Solomon told NBC News, “The law would erase me as an LGBTQ teacher. Nobody would be able to know, which then puts me in the closet, and I’m there seven hours a day, if not more, five days a week. I wouldn’t be able to be who I am.”

Reid weaponized the Washington Post article to push the unfounded conspiracy theory that if Roe v. Wade is overturned, it will open the door to forbid same-sex marriage, abolish LGBTQ rights, and allow sweeping discrimination.

“They’re not going to be satisfied with forced birth state by state,” Reid wrote on Twitter. “They’re going to go for a national forced birth law. And then they’re coming for everything else. The SCOTUS ending ‘right to privacy’ puts it ALL ON THE TABLE: gay marriage, LGBTQ rights, anti-discrimination.”

Reid described the Washington Post article about the teacher quitting her job as “brutal” and claimed, “This is the reality in Florida and who knows where else soon.”

The progressive cable talk show host added a second tweet vilifying “Christian nationalists” and Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito – who penned the leaked initial draft opinion calling for Roe v. Wade to be overturned.

“Y’all keep comforting yourselves, believing Alito and the other Christian nationalists on the SCOTUS won’t come for your communities,” Reid ranted. “Making abortion illegal will satisfy them, right? … Christian nationalists believe they are fighting a war for God. People in a jihad don’t stop.”

Earlier this month, leftist Reid lashed out at “white Christian nationalism” and the Republican Party.

“The goal of the Republican Party today, is it to seize control of every level of government, to lock out voices of color & LGBTQ voices except those who conform to their demand that history and education uplift white Christian dominion as the one true bedrock of America,” Reid alleged.

“This Dominionism — this white Christian* nationalism — is cultish, sometimes violent, ugly and cruel,” she seethed. “It has swallowed the Republican Party whole, it dominates the Supreme Court, and it’s rolling over our state legislatures, school boards, congress and governors mansions.”

Reid again promoted the groundless belief that Republicans are coming to snatch away numerous rights from Americans because fascism is in the country.

“We’re all about to lose so many rights; so fast, most people won’t know what hit them, until it’s too late,” Reid claimed. “Fascism isn’t a game, y’all. It’s real. And it’s in America, sometimes dressed as a kooky personality cult or carrying a confederate flag… and not enough people are fighting it.”

Reid added, “And the first casualty will be women, who are about to find out what ‘big government’ really looks like, thanks to the Christian nationalist majority on the Supreme Court and the Republicans who are licking their chops at taking over the House and especially the Senate.”

In April, Reid spouted that Republicans should be labeled as the “pro-rape, pro child marriage party,”
